“In addition to Greek and Bible,” Smith wrote, “[Richardson] taught nearly everything else, from the natural to the social sciences, to history and philosophy.

Richardson also was active in mission outreach.

“Journey to Bethlehem,” a decades-long tradition at Racine (Mo.) Christian Church, continued this year on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The live, walk-around theater production depicting the first day of Jesus’ life featured live animals and a cast of more than 200 in period costumes. Cookies and hot chocolate were served to guests at the conclusion of the 90- to 120-minute experience.

“When you see the live baby, it’s impactful and makes the story come to life,” worship minister Darrin Brower—the production’s director—told the Joplin Globe. “Understanding God’s love for us is one of the purest messages we can send to the community.”
