RENEW.org Launches Job Board (Plus Other News Briefs)

by | 2 February, 2022 | 0 comments

RENEW.org is introducing a new service that can help churches find ministerial candidates and ministerial candidates to find churches. The RENEW.org Job Board helps to align ministers/pastors with churches who both care about Christian Church/Restoration Movement beliefs.

Churches can post the jobs they need filled, and ministerial/pastoral candidates can apply for the jobs for which they may be matched. The site helps both churches and ministers/pastors identify with those who are aligned with common beliefs in the Christian Churches/Churches of Christ.

Milligan University says gifts from four retired professors are helping to support the arts at the institution.

Gifts from Lee and Pat Magness will help start the Magness Lectureship on Jesus and the Arts, an every-other-year event that will focus on the person, teachings, and ministry of Jesus as reflected on and interpreted through the arts. Lee and Pat Magness taught at Milligan for 30 and 28 years, respectively.

Bruce and Rosemarie Shields, meanwhile, have gifted funds to help with renovations and upgrades to Milligan’s arts facilities, art studio, and the fine arts program. The veteran educators—Bruce served 32 years with Emmanuel Christian Seminary, while Rosemarie served 20-plus years with Milligan—gave the gift in memory of their son, Robert Shields, a 1986 alumnus who died of cancer in July 2020.

An Associated Press article about the aftermath of a Dec. 10 tornado that destroyed 1,300 homes, businesses, and houses of worship in Mayfield, Ky., indicated that church leaders there are unlikely to replace their large, 100-year-old buildings with anything quite so grand.

“I think all of the congregations in the downtown area are using this experience to re-envision their ministries . . . and how they might make a difference in our community,” said Milton West, senior minister of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Four churches were destroyed and two churches were heavily damaged in the tornado.
