David Faust

Serving God through the dark nights

Ministering by Night

David Faust reflects on sleepless nights and Psalm 134’s call to “minister by night.” He offers biblical encouragement for loneliness and disappointment, plus three practical “night lights” for serving God until rejoicing comes in the morning.

A friend loves at all times

True Friends

Proverbs 17:17 sums up well the work of true friends: “A friend loves at all times.” The love of true friends is expressed in a variety of ways. This editorial identifies some of them.

Underestimated

I’m learning not to underestimate people, problems, or God’s power. Lest I forget these lessons, there’s a pile of hickory nuts in the woods that helps me remember.

Stronger as You Go

Things highly valued in this world (financial security, physical health, pleasure, and entertainment) can’t fill the void. Our souls yearn “for the courts of the Lord” and the living God who meets us there.

Empty

On the third day after he suffered and died, Jesus vacated that place of death and he will never return. We continue our worship with a picture of the promise God has in store for every believer.

Wild Loving

Communion may not qualify as a “home-cooked meal,” but it is a meal that welcomes us home to our Father’s table and foreshadows what awaits when we do go home to our Father.
