That was a question 23 college presidents faced upon receiving a Christian Standard survey asking about their institution’s views on biblical inerrancy, human sexuality, and women in ministry. The survey was sent to presidents of colleges affiliated with the Restoration Movement. In the end, 16 presidents responded. Seven did not. Phil and Marian Yakey had a hard time digesting the news about the closure of Lincoln Christian University. The couple have been connected to the college for nearly five decades. “There’s an element of shock in it,” Phil Yakey said. “We kind of always assumed the college would continue to grow and prosper.” . . .

Two weeks after announcing its upcoming closure, Lincoln Christian University is working out the details for its existing students and employees. LCU President Silas McCormick said he held an in-person meeting attended by 20 to 25 students at Lincoln’s campus. The students were “obviously sad and disappointed,” he said.
