Woodburn Christian Children’s Home

Woodburn Christian Children’s Home provides faith-based residential care, counseling, education support, life-skills training, and family-style ministry for children ages 6–21.

Woodburn Christian Children’s Home — Organization Profile

Woodburn Christian Children’s Home is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, state-licensed, faith-based residential children’s home located near Fort Wayne, Indiana. The ministry’s mission is to provide a Christian home for children in need and minister to children and families on physical, educational, emotional, and spiritual levels. WCCH serves boys and girls ages 6–21 in family-style homes on a 30-acre campus.

The organization is based in Woodburn, Indiana, and accepts private placements, including placements from the Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio tri-state area. WCCH does not contract with DCS and describes its placement process as private, assessment-based, and focused on children who can function in a least-restrictive Christian family environment. The ministry states that children accepted into care must be willing participants in the program.

WCCH’s residential program is built around consistent Christian family living. Children participate in daily chores, family activities, prayer, devotions, corporate worship, youth group, and special events. The home also supports physical development through life-skill training, exercise, nutrition, recreation, and medical and dental care. Educational support includes school placement, monitoring academic progress, tutoring, and communication with teachers.

The ministry also provides Christian counseling, emotional support, and treatment planning for children in care. Its program includes individual and group counseling, weekly treatment-team reviews, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Trauma-Focused CBT approaches. WCCH measures outcomes through goals such as high school graduation, return home when appropriate, improved school performance, and healthier social interaction.

In addition to residential care, WCCH has expanded its work through community counseling and strategic campus development. Its Community Counseling Program offers mental health and pastoral counseling for community members and surrounding churches. The ministry’s “Strong and Courageous” strategic expansion includes a completed Learning and Counseling Center and plans for additional housing and transitional support for older youth and young adults.

People can engage with Woodburn Christian Children’s Home through prayer, private donations, pantry needs, volunteer work projects, annual fundraisers, the Legacy Fund, benefit auction, golf outing, counseling referrals, and child placement inquiries. WCCH states that it receives no federal, state, or county support and is funded through voluntary contributions from churches, individuals, businesses, community partners, and private foundations.
