Emmanuel Receives NACC Archives (Plus News Briefs)

Compiled by Chris Moon and Jim Nieman Emmanuel Christian Seminary’s Helsabeck Archives has received the contents of the archives of the North American Christian Convention.  The seminary has been sorting through 100 boxes that contain photos, audio, and visual material spanning the 90-year-plus history of the NACC. “When the NACC contacted us about donating their archives, I was thrilled,” said Katherine Banks, college archivist at Emmanuel. “Because the Helsabeck Archives is focused on collecting the history of the Christian church/church of Christ branch of the Stone-Campbell Movement and the convention has been such a pivotal part of that branch’s history, I knew it

How Shall We Face the Future?

By Mark A. Taylor “Refreshed in the Future” was Bob Russell’s sermon topic at the closing session of the North American Christian Convention in Orlando, Florida, Friday morning, July 13. And even though he’s a little skeptical about predicting the future, he observed that “one sure way to get attention” is to try. Foot”s team augmented their music with creative video that portrayed the spirit and the message of each song we sang. The music was a comfortable mix of newer and older worship choruses, highlighted

Here are two more odd combinations: different and same; convention and refreshing. As much as I have appreciated my experiences at various conventions, conferences, family camps, and clinics, I have departed from most of them with some good insights and a few new

Exponential “09: What”s the Buzz?

by Dick Alexander So what”s all the buzz about Exponential? What exactly is drawing more than 3,000 mostly young leaders to Orlando, Florida, each spring for three intense days?
