Two Congregations Join Voices in Spokane

When Henry Holub moved to Spokane, Wash., in early 2020 to minister with Northside Church of Christ, a noninstrumental church, one of his first orders of business was to meet with Troy Burns, pastor of Sunrise Church of Christ, an independent Christian church. That meeting has led to a growing partnership between their churches that transcends their differences.

SPOTLIGHT: Alvadore Christian Church (Junction City, OR)

Exactly What This Very Small Church Needed Advancing their technology has never been a top priority at Alvadore Christian Church, a congregation of about 65 people in the small, rural town of Junction City, Oregon. It’s not that senior pastor Marcus Omdahl is old-fashioned. Omdahl is a sharp young leader with a wife and school-age daughter. But until recently, he understood that livestreaming was not something the congregation or the community was likely to embrace. Of course, that all changed with the spread of COVID-19 early in 2020. These are their stories. _ _ _ Reopened and Staying Open: Crestview Christian

This Sunday’s event, dubbed South Rock ONE, “is all about reaching people who don’t know Christ and/or don’t have a church,” said Rick Wheeler, lead pastor with SRCC, located in Derby, Kan., a few miles south of Wichita. The church averages about 1,300 in weekly attendance. “We’ve done outreach events off-site, but never a worship service,” Wheeler said. “We sent a letter

Getting a Jump on the Summer Slump

By Michael C. Mack Don”™t simply accept the habitual warm-weather wane in church attendance and activities. Instead, find creative ways to minister this summer in ways maybe not possible the rest of the year. Here are just a few starter ideas. “¢ Make this a “Block Party Summer.” Encourage individuals and small groups to conduct neighborhood events to help neighbors get to know one another and have fun together. Use it as a simple opportunity for God to work through relationships to reach people where you live. “¢ Go outdoors with worship. This one may seem risky with potential inclement
