Former SLCC Prof Coauthors ‘The Faith of Elvis’: An Interview with Kent Sanders (Part 2)

This is part 2 of Christian Standard’s interview with Kent Sanders, coauthor of the new book "The Faith of Elvis: A Story Only a Brother Can Tell." Sanders, a former St. Louis Christian College professor, assisted Elvis Presley’s younger stepbrother, Billy Stanley, in telling the inside story of the spiritual life of the “King of Rock and Roll.” 

Final Approval of SLCC/CCCB Merger Expected Soon

Officials from St. Louis Christian College and Central Christian College of the Bible anticipate the two schools will officially merge in the coming days. When completed, SLCC’s campus will be sold, some residential students and 7 SLCC employees will relocate to CCCB’s campus in Moberly, Mo., and property will be leased in the St. Louis area where classes will continue to be offered.

Stadia Church Planting shared a video highlighting multiple achievements attained during the challenging year of 2020. Among those successes: Stadia planted 98 U.S. churches and 280 global churches (making a total of 1,256 Stadia churches since 2003); 83 new church planters were recommended for church planting; 1,155 women were served through Stadia’s Bloom: Church Planting Women; and 2,000 more children were sponsored through Stadia global partnerships (bringing the total to 48,720 since sponsorships began). Compiled by Jim Nieman Victor Glover, an astronaut now serving a six-month mission on the International Space Station, recently was chosen as one of 18 members of NASA’s Artemis team, which the space agency said “will help pave the way for the next astronaut missions on and around the moon,” the Christian Chronicle reported. Glover is a member of a noninstrumental church of Christ in the Houston area. LCU Honors Two Longtime Servants (Plus News Briefs)

Compiled by Jim Nieman and Chris Moon Lincoln Christian University president Don Green recently recognized two longtime LCU workers with Distinguished Service Awards. Lynn Laughlin has retired and Freddie Tedrick will end his service with the school at the end of summer. Laughlin began working with Lincoln upon his graduation from the institution in 1964. He first served as assistant basketball coach and director of the physical education program. Eventually he served in a variety of roles: head coach of both basketball and baseball, athletic director, instructor in New Testament, admissions director, dean of students, and finally as vice president

By Chris Moon Four years into its existence, the Merold Institute is looking toward the future. The ministry of Harvester Christian Church in St. Charles, Mo., began primarily as a place to help mold the church’s key volunteers and existing and incoming staff—to give them the biblical and theological training lacking in many ministry workers who were unable to attend Bible college or seminary.
