The Great Lakes Christian College women’s soccer team polished off its regular season with 3-0 win over Regent University (Virginia Beach, Va.) and is ranked second in the NCCAA DII Coach’s Poll. The squad enters the postseason as defending national champions—a great accomplishment, especially when considering that three years ago the program didn’t exist.

Christian college athletics are a massive investment of time and effort for athletes and coaches during the school year, but programs never quite shut off in the summer. For many programs—including at William Jessup University, Ozark Christian College, and Johnson University—summer is when hundreds of area athletes visit campus for sports camps.

Jennifer Perkins Taylor has more than 250 career wins as Point University's softball coach, a program she has been with since it began. John Perkins led Point's baseball team to the NAIA World Series in 2016 as a first-year head coach. The pair fiercely support each other, their programs, and the mission of Point University “to educate students for Christ-centered service and leadership throughout the world.” . . .
