An array of announcements about changes at churches and Christian colleges have been rolled out during the past few days. Compiled by Jim Nieman and Chris Moon Northshore Christian Academy in Everett, Wash.—a ministry of Northshore Christian Church—was presented with a National Blue Ribbon School Award during ceremonies last week. NCA was one of 362 schools—only 50 of them private—to be honored as a Blue Ribbon School. Northshore superintendent Holly Leach, principal Diane Winningham, and other staff members accepted the award at a ceremony in Maryland, just outside Washington, D.C. Leach told Heraldnet.com that Northshore stood out due to its faith, fine arts, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), and school culture. A fire likely started by lightning destroyed Guthrie (Okla.) Christian Church last week. The blaze started just before midnight on Aug. 14. No one was hurt. “We lost 49 years of books, pictures, sermons, memories and even my college books,” pastor Don Riepe told the Guthrie News Leader. Riepe is an alum of Ozark Christian College. Guthrie Fire Chief Eric Harlow said the building was a “total loss.” The church was still smoldering the next morning—last Wednesday. By Dave Smith “I like you Mr. Dave.” I looked down at 6-year-old Max, son of Polish parents, and one of the children at Northshore Christian Church”s Kids” Camp, and replied, “I like you too, Max.” And after a week of shepherding some 15 second-graders, I decided I also liked kids” camp.
