A Not Too Old one-day conference will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., June 29 at Villa Heights Christian Church in Joplin, Mo. David Faust will present at the conference, designed to inspire people 55 and older to continue to walk with the Lord and each other as faithful servants of the Lord as they age. Returning to Palestine
It can be fascinating to read an editorial from an old issue of Christian Standard and consider biblical history that preceded it and world history that has occurred since. Such is the case with this piece from 140 years ago. One important note: We don’t believe the editor’s reference to the Jewish people as “the hated race” was intended as a personal slur. How Could a God of Love Allow the Christchurch Massacre?
Jeff Vines, lead pastor of Christ’s Church of the Valley, San Dimas, Calif., is a former 10-year missionary to New Zealand who has shared some challenging thoughts in the aftermath of the mass shootings at a mosque and Islamic center Friday that left 50 dead and dozens injured. Vines—who was in New Zealand when the shootings occurred—wrote “How Could a God of Love Allow the Christchurch Massacre?” for the Vision Christian Media website. First Family

Needs and opportunities to serve abound in the evenings, threatening to take the minister away from conversations with a spouse or attendance at children”s ballgames and concerts. There”s very little nominalism anymore. This is a good thing. Cultural Christianity is dying.
