After a phenomenal career at Manhattan Christian College, Nate Awbrey has joined the Kansas State University basketball program as a walk-on.

Christian college athletics are a massive investment of time and effort for athletes and coaches during the school year, but programs never quite shut off in the summer. For many programs—including at William Jessup University, Ozark Christian College, and Johnson University—summer is when hundreds of area athletes visit campus for sports camps.
No longer are we stunned to read, “A Christian college is closing its doors!” . . . By 1980, about 40 colleges were committed to preparing the next generation of servant-leaders among the independent Christian churches. What has happened in recent years to reduce that number to fewer than 20?
Point University is partnering with hundreds of Chick-fil-A operators to provide a low-cost, online college education to the restaurant chain’s employees. The effort looks as if it will double Point’s online enrollment. “It’s already a game-changer,” said Dean Collins, Point's president.

Del Harris, who will be enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Sept. 10, decided to attend Milligan College (instead of Butler University) at the last minute. He cites Dr. Robert Fife and Dr. Owen Crouch as major influences. Harris later spent more than three decades in the NBA.

Officials from St. Louis Christian College and Central Christian College of the Bible anticipate the two schools will officially merge in the coming days. When completed, SLCC’s campus will be sold, some residential students and 7 SLCC employees will relocate to CCCB’s campus in Moberly, Mo., and property will be leased in the St. Louis area where classes will continue to be offered.

Three members of Milligan University’s men’s track and field team were involved in an accident Thursday evening while running in Williamsburg, Va., where they were scheduled to compete this weekend. Sophomore Eli Cramer was killed and sophomore Alex Mortimer sustained life-threatening injuries. . . .
The merger of Central Christian College of the Bible and St. Louis Christian College is in its final stages, with the two Restoration Movement schools slated to join forces by about June 1.

Dr. James Riley Estep Jr. was announced as founding dean of Lincoln Christian Institute last week by Lincoln (Ill.) Christian University president Silas McCormick.

The Great Lakes Christian College board of trustees voted unanimously Friday to call Frank Weller as the institution’s 10th president. On June 1, Weller will succeed longtime president Larry Carter.
