College Ministries of Virginia is seeking a full-time Campus Minister to serve students at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia. This minister will step into CMOVโs mission of encouraging and equipping college students to become devoted followers of Jesus who positively influence the church and their communities.
The Campus Minister will build meaningful relationships with students and help develop Christ-centered leaders through personal discipleship, biblical teaching, and a welcoming ministry community. One-on-one meetings are central to CMOVโs approach, giving the minister regular opportunities to listen, mentor, encourage, and help students grow in their relationship with Christ. The minister will also lead Bible studies and participate in family-style gatherings built around shared meals and intentional conversations.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Developing discipling relationships with students through regular one-on-one meetings.
- Leading Bible studies and helping students understand and apply Scripture.
- Organizing family gatherings, meals, conversations, and other community-building activities.
- Identifying, encouraging, and developing Christ-centered student leaders.
- Helping students connect their faith with the life and mission of the local church.
- Building a team of ministry partners through partial financial support raising.

- A growing and devoted relationship with Jesus Christ.
- A desire to build authentic relationships with college students.
- A commitment to missional discipleship and leadership development.
- Humility, initiative, and a willingness to take appropriate risks and try new ideas.
- A willingness to participate in support raising with guidance from CMOV.
CMOV emphasizes healthy ministry flowing from healthy people. Staff support includes generous vacation time, monthly retreat days, mental health resources, and ongoing relationships with fellow Campus Ministers and executive staff. Compensation is expected to range from $45,000 to $75,000, with partial support raising included in the position.
