Defiance Christian Church, a Restoration Movement congregation in Defiance, Ohio, is seeking a full-time minister to provide biblical preaching, pastoral leadership, teaching, and oversight. The church has an average Sunday morning attendance of approximately 150 and also hosts Defiance Christian Academy.
The minister will help guide the congregation’s spiritual life while overseeing the church’s day-to-day ministry and administrative operations. This position requires a leader who can faithfully teach the Word of God, care for people, and work effectively with both paid staff members and volunteers.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Preaching the Sunday sermon and providing clear, Bible-centered teaching.
- Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the church.
- Managing and supporting paid staff members and ministry volunteers.
- Maintaining regular office hours and remaining accessible to the congregation.
- Providing Bible-based counseling as needs arise.
- Teaching at least one Sunday school or evening class.
- Conducting pastoral visitation and offering spiritual care as needed.
Expectations and qualifications include:
- Being a baptized believer in Jesus Christ.
- Holding at least a bachelor’s degree from a Restoration Movement college.
- Having at least several years of preaching ministry experience.
- Demonstrating the ability to teach and apply the Word of God faithfully.
- Possessing the leadership and relational skills needed to oversee church operations, staff members, volunteers, and pastoral ministry.
