Clay City Christian Church in Clay City, Illinois, is seeking a full-time Preaching Minister who is passionate about biblical preaching, congregational ministry, and building authentic relationships within a close-knit rural community. The church is part of the Restoration Movement and has an average Sunday morning worship attendance of approximately 40 people.
The congregation also has an active youth group that typically welcomes approximately 40 students on Wednesday evenings. The new minister will be expected to support and participate in this ministry while providing spiritual leadership to the broader congregation.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Preaching and teaching Scripture as the congregation’s primary minister.
- Helping build, strengthen, and maintain a healthy Restoration Movement congregation.
- Developing meaningful relationships with church members and people throughout the Clay City community.
- Providing pastoral leadership, spiritual direction, and congregational care.
- Assisting with the church’s active Wednesday evening youth program.
- Supporting the church’s partnership with Oil Belt Christian Service Camp, located a few miles from Clay City.
Expectations and qualifications include:
- A commitment to the beliefs and ministry heritage of the Restoration Movement.
- Strong preaching, teaching, communication, and relationship-building abilities.
- A desire to serve faithfully in a small, rural Midwestern community.
- A Bible college degree from a Restoration Movement-aligned institution, or active progress toward such a degree, is preferred.
- A willingness to consider living in the church-provided parsonage to encourage close relationships with the congregation and community.
Clay City offers a slower-paced rural setting, local schools, and opportunities for outdoor recreation. Compensation is negotiable, and free housing is provided through the church parsonage.
