Boones Creek Christian Church in Johnson City, Tennessee, is seeking a full-time Student Minister to help middle and high school students come to know and grow in Jesus Christ. This position centers on biblical teaching, relational discipleship, student outreach, volunteer development, and the leadership of a healthy, small-group-focused student ministry.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Developing creative and intentional ways to reach young people for Jesus Christ and build discipling relationships with students.
- Leading, teaching, planning, and coordinating student programming, including regular Sunday morning and Wednesday evening ministries.
- Preparing engaging, biblically faithful teachings, sermons, and lessons that communicate Scripture in ways students can understand and apply.
- Equipping students to share the Gospel with friends, peers, and family members.
- Recruiting, training, mentoring, and supporting adult volunteers and small group leaders.
- Planning and leading camps, retreats, and student ministry events, including CIY MIX, CIY MOVE, and TCTC.
- Partnering with the Children’s Minister to help fifth graders transition successfully into student ministry.
- Helping graduating seniors connect with a local church or appropriate ministry community for their next season.
- Managing student ministry administrative responsibilities, including budgeting, records, parent communication, and staff coordination.
Expectations and qualifications include:
- A passion for serving Jesus Christ and helping students grow as disciples.
- A demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, including the ability to lead and develop a ministry team.
- A love for Christ’s Church and a desire to nurture and care for its people.
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in theology, ministry, or a related field is preferred, along with a solid foundation in biblical education, theology, and ministry principles.
- Willingness to agree to and follow the church’s Staff Covenant.
