Lead Pastor – First Christian Church

First Christian Church in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, is seeking a full-time Lead Pastor to guide, shepherd, and strengthen a healthy, Bible-centered congregation averaging approximately 225 in weekly attendance. The church is committed to connecting people with Christ and one another through faithful biblical teaching, meaningful relationships, intentional discipleship, worship, and community engagement.

The Lead Pastor will serve as the congregation’s primary preacher and teacher while providing pastoral and organizational leadership in partnership with the Elder Board. The church has an established staff team, active children’s and youth ministries, Sunday school classes for all ages, a strong worship ministry, and significant volunteer involvement.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Preaching biblically faithful, engaging sermons that encourage spiritual growth.
• Providing pastoral care and spiritual leadership to a multigenerational congregation.
• Leading, developing, and collaborating with church staff.
• Mentoring and providing guidance to the Associate Pastor.
• Building alignment and shared direction across ministries and volunteer teams.
• Engaging with the Roanoke Rapids community and representing the church well.
• Working closely with the Elder Board in spiritual and organizational leadership.

Expectations and qualifications include:

• A clear love for Christ and a growing personal walk with Him.
• Strong biblical preaching and teaching ability.
• A relational, approachable, and visible leadership style.
• Experience leading and collaborating with church staff.
• A commitment to shepherding people across generations.
• Godly character, integrity, and spiritual maturity.
• Formal theological training is preferred, and previous pastoral leadership experience is strongly valued.

This is a full-time, on-site position with flexibility in the weekly schedule and an expectation of consistent presence in both the church and community.
