Student Minister – New Hope Christian Church

New Hope Christian Church in Bridgeport, Illinois, is seeking a full-time Student Minister to provide spiritual leadership, discipleship, teaching, and ministry oversight for junior high and high school students. This position will help students grow in their relationship with Christ, discover and use their spiritual gifts, develop meaningful relationships, and participate in the mission of the congregation.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Provide regular biblical teaching and lessons for students during the school year.
• Give oversight, guidance, and pastoral care to junior high and high school students.
• Recruit, develop, and equip adult leaders for effective student ministry.
• Create opportunities for students to serve within the church and through local ministry partnerships.
• Connect with area schools through FCA, sporting events, volunteering, and other relationship-building opportunities.
• Plan student activities, CIY events, camp experiences, outreach events, and other opportunities that encourage spiritual growth and community.
• Communicate clearly with students and parents regarding programs, events, and ministry opportunities.
• Lead or co-lead small groups and encourage students with ministry potential to consider full-time Christian service.
• Preach periodically in the absence of the Senior Minister or during special youth-emphasis services.
• Participate in weekly staff meetings and monthly church leadership meetings.

Expectations and qualifications include:

• A servant-leader mindset and shepherd’s heart.
• A personal commitment to Christ as an immersed believer.
• Agreement with New Hope’s vision, mission, and core values.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to relate well across generations.
• Preferred one to three years of youth ministry experience, although new graduates will be considered.
• A Bible college degree is preferred, though relevant ministry experience may substitute.
• Ability to manage time and resources effectively and work alongside the current Youth Minister during a transition period.
