ICOM has announced the 2022 gathering in Columbus, Ohio, will be one day shorter than in recent years. The conference will officially open on Thursday, Nov. 3, and close at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5 (instead of on Sunday morning, as has been the recent practice).
The inaugural ChurchOS Conference will take place Feb. 1-2 in Arizona. The conference is for any church leader who wants to carry out the Great Commission more effectively and consistently. (Plus briefs from Johnson University, Bridges Christian Church, and more.)

Last year's International Conference On Missions needed to take place virtually, but executive director David Empson said plans call for an in-person event this year, Nov. 18-21 in Richmond, Va. (There will, however, also be a virtual option.)
The Spire Network is in the final stages of preparation for its third-annual SpireConference, set for Sept. 14-16 in Nashville. Spire anticipates it may match or exceed the number of people who participated in their first in-person conference two years ago, which would be a "huge win," said board chairman Dave Stone.
Spire Network is built on the vision of seeking measurable kingdom impact through practical ministry support. . . . It is a community linked together with a common identity that is working to help accelerate our movement of restorative Christian churches.

Several students were recognized for their scholarship at the Stone-Campbell Journal Conference in September. For the second consecutive year, Joel Childers, a graduate student at Abilene (Texas) Christian University, received the Isaac Errett Award. His winning paper this year was titled, “Responses to the Attack on Pearl Harbor in Journals from the Methodist Church and Churches of Christ.” Childers received a $250 prize provided by the Disciples of Christ Historical Society. Students from Emmanuel Christian Seminary at Milligan (in Tennessee) and Johnson University Florida were winners of the 2020 Student Paper Competitions. Samuel Guy of ECS won the graduate division

By Jim Nieman The International Conference On Missions’ executive director, staff, and this year’s president have had to overcome monumental challenges in planning this year’s event in the age of COVID-19. Work for the November conference essentially had to begin anew over the summer when ICOM announced it was switching to a hybrid format—both online and in-person. ICOM officials have promised the in-person portion will be safe and comfortable, but limited mainly to the popular exhibit area where so many friends and mission agencies connect. ICOM 2020 will be both. By Chris Moon The COVID-19 pandemic dealt a major financial blow to Joplin, Mo.-based Christ In Youth, which hosts dozens of popular student ministry conferences across the country each year. CIY has canceled all of its high school MOVE and middle school MIX conferences this summer—56 events in all—because of the impossibility of holding those large events during the pandemic. The organization also had to cancel dozens of weekend events in March and April because of the outbreak. Those events represented virtually all of CIY’s revenue stream for the year. The total attendance of about 8,500 during the Nov. 14-17 Kansas City gathering was on track with ICOM events of the recent past, while the Student ICOM—or SICOM—remained strong with 575 attending. It is aimed at helping participants grasp solid disciple-making theology.
