Good News Is for Sharing

By Mark A. Taylor

Readers of our weekly e newsletter have received two notes this summer about the sale of Standard Publishing. The letter below is the second of those, distributed August 9. In addition a hard copy was mailed to every Christian church and church of Christ at about the same time.

But we’d rather share our news too many times than not enough. The fact is that Standard Publishing is embarking on an exciting new chapter in its service to the church, undergirded by commitments and principles that have guided us for more than 14 decades.

Please pray for us as we decide the best ways to serve in the days ahead. And if you have comments or questions, feel free to write our new president at the address below or contact us at the CHRISTIAN STANDARD Web site.

You may have heard the news that Standard Publishing has a new owner. Standex International, the corporation that owned Standard Publishing since 1955, sold the company to the Wicks Group, a private equity firm, on July 6th.

What does this mean? It means that, for the first time in half a century, Standard Publishing is truly independent . Our new investor owners intend for us to set our own policies, run our own business, and manage our own future. They are interested in the health and long term growth of our company.

We want you to know that Standard Publishing is as committed today as ever to producing nondenominational, true to the Bible resources . The doctrinal integrity of what we publish will continue to be sound, with the continued oversight and involvement of our Publishing Committee.

Meanwhile, we are expecting a bright new future for Standard Publishing. We are moving forward with new products and new services that were in the planning stages before the sale. With new investment in product development, we will find new ways to meet needs in churches like yours.

We are a one month old company with a 140 year heritage. We will be faithful to God, his Word, and the commitments that created this company when Christian Standard was first published so many decades ago.

The commitment is important enough that we wanted to write you and make sure you heard it directly from us . So we invite you to do two things celebrate with us as we start a new chapter in the life of Standard Publishing; and support the products and services we offer. One of the ways you can support us is to share ideas, concerns, and comments. Visit us at www.standardpub.com/feedback and feel free to e mail us.
