This Is Where It Happens

The very core of Christianity is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. It is the most significant aspect of our faith practice. It was necessary for accomplishing the work of our Savior as an intercessor for us with the heavenly Father.

And partaking of Communion is where we experience the most powerful, personal, face-to-face meeting with our Lord. This is where his presence is profoundly extended to us.

The early church placed great importance on the Lordโ€™s Supper. โ€œEvery day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread [including the Lordโ€™s Supper] in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere heartsโ€ (Acts 2:46). They even observed Communion together in their homes. Beyond a doubt the effect of the Lordโ€™s Supper is just as powerful for us today as for those early believers.

As our hearts kneel at the foot of the cross, we experience a Christ-awakening moment. As we devote all we are to him, we encounter the most amazing outpouring of selfless love the world will ever know. This is where we realize the greatest emotion of gratitude for merciful forgiveness of our sins. And it all comes to life as we hear the words of our Lord, โ€œTake and eat; this is my body. . . . Drink from it all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sinsโ€ (Matthew 26:26-28).
