As we announced earlier, Christian Standard, published weekly since 1866, will become a monthly publication in September. What does this change mean?
Well, there are several things it does NOT mean.
This change does NOT mean Christian Standard readers will get less than they received before. Instead of 16 pages 48 times a year, they”ll receive at least 64 pages (plus a four-page cover) every month. Meanwhile, Paul Williams and I will continue to write weekly””find our columns every week at ChristianStandard.com. The weekly Sunday school lesson will appear there too, along with weekly Communion meditations to supplement the one appearing in each month”s print edition.
This change is NOT a step backwards for Christian Standard content. In fact, the larger page count of our monthly issues will allow us to treat some subjects better than ever before. And watch for our news pages (“4C”s”) as well as “Seen and Heard” in new, more attractive, expanded formats.
This change does NOT eliminate any of your favorite features. It simply consolidates them in one attractive, new package. Earlier this year we introduced a slate of new monthly columnists. Now they”ll be assembled between the covers of just one publication. “Elders Meeting,” “Ministry Today,” “Christian Standard Interview,” “Group Think,” “What”s Next?” and “From My Bookshelf” will all be there every month, easier than ever to find, read, and share with others.
In short, we believe the new Christian Standard monthly will be more helpful than before. And more than one leader has said Christian Standard was already pretty valuable. . . .
Arron Chambers: “Nothing speaks into my specific ministry as effectively as Christian Standard.”
Doug Priest: “The magazine is innovative, informative, and intentional. I can”t imagine living the Christian life without it.”
Jeff Faull: “It helps me monitor the health of our churches.”
Gayla Congdon: “Christian Standard has brought issues facing the church to the forefront and allowed them to be addressed from diverse perspectives.”
Matt Proctor: “Christian Standard is our tribe”s storyteller. It tells the stories of our people and connects me to other congregations, ministries, and believers.”
Ben Cachiaras: “We place every issue in the hands of all our volunteer and paid leaders. I rely on it to keep our team envisioned, informed, challenged, and equipped.”
